The Chairman and United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) members of the Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha have handed 13 complaints to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Disciplinary Committee against Kelaniya Organiser and Public Affairs and Public Relations Minister Mervyn Silva.
Three governing party members of the Peliyagoda Urban Council have also complained against Silva.
The Councillors also claimed that they were prepared to complain against the Minister to the Bribery Commission as well.
The 13 members from the Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha and the three Peliyagoda Urban Council members say they would resign from their posts if Silva was not removed as the SLFP Organiser for Kelaniya.
Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Prasanna Ranaweera and members Chamila Duminda, Shanthi Kumudini, Sunil Soysa, Hasitha Madawala, Dishantha Dassanayake, Nadeeka Sampath, Chathura Dhanushka, Lanka Vijitha Kumara, Milroy Perera, Oshan Nandasiri, H.G. Somawardena and N.V. Rohitha and Peliyagoda Urban Council members Sarath de Silva, A. Dharshana and K.D. Ananda have complained against Silva.
The Councillors have complained of the Minister’s alleged extortion, illegal land acquisition, misusing funds, corruption and malpractices.
