On 8 June, the Korean Residents Association of Lanka donated relief items to flood victims and bereaved families in Ratnapura. The items include 150 rice bags (10 kg each), 150 boxes of food ingredients (sugar, milk powder, canned food, etc.) and clothes. Ratnapura is one of the districts severely affected by the recent floods and landslides. The Korean Association is also planning to hand over additional 100 rice cookers to the victims of the Meethotamulla disaster.

Following the disaster, the Government of the Republic of Korea provided humanitarian assistance worth of $ 300,000 (comprising family tents, blankets and tarpaulins) to the Ministry of Disaster Management of Sri Lanka. The Korean Businessmen’s Association (KBA) of Sri Lanka handed over relief goods to the Sri Lanka Police. One of Korea’s leading companies, SK Energy and Service (SK E&S) and Korean Actress Lee Young-ae, well-known as the heroine of Sujatha Diyani, also made donations of $ 20,000 and KRW 56 million (approximately $ 50,000) respectively, to assist in flood relief efforts.
