Kusum Athukorala, Chair of NetWater and the Sri Lanka Water Partnership, was felicitated for winning the prestigious Women in Water 2012 award by the International Water Association (IWA).The ceremony was chaired by Dinesh Gunawardena, Minister of Water Supply and Drainage and Chief Government Whip.
Among the many senior water professionals present was Jeremy Bird, Director General of IWMI (International Water Management Institute), who took up his appointment with IWMI in October. The ceremony was organised by the Sri Lanka Water Partnership and NetWater in co-operation with the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute.
Among those who addressed the gathering were Prof. J.B. Dissanayake, Emeritus Professor, University of Colombo, S.B. Niyangoda, former of the Chair Sri Lanka Water Partnership, Kamini Vitarana, Chair, Ruk Rekaganno and Prof. Ranjith Bandara, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute.
