A Kuwaiti welfare NGO, ‘Kuwait Joint Relief Committee’ has extended housing assistance to the value of Rs. 25.23 million to the Muslim refugees in Mannar. Using this donation, 42 new houses will be built in Nochchikulam village in Mannar District for the displaced Muslim refugees of the area, says Rishad Bathiudeen, Minister of Industry and Commerce, who manages the relief and construction.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between “Sri Lanka Jamaathe Islami”, the implementing NGO in Sri Lanka and the Kuwait Joint Relief Committee (the funding NGO) for this donation was signed on 26 July with Minister Rishad Bathiudeen as a co-signatory.
“The construction of houses will start next week” Minister Bathiudeen said.
