Laugfs Gas up by Rs.32

Laugfs Gas Limited said yesterday that the Consumers Affairs Authority (CAA) had granted approval to the company to increase the retail price of its 12.5kg domestic gas cylinder by Rs.32.

Accordingly the company said that from mid night yesterday the new price of the 12.5kg gas cylinder would be Rs.1556. A spokesman for the company said that due to the recent increase in international gas prices the company requested approval from the CAA to increase the price by Rs.221. "The government after considering our request removed all the taxes in relation to importation of gas into the country. The Rs.32 is the remaining balance that we have passed on to the consumers" said Laugfs Gas Chairman W.K. Wegapitiya.
