Lawyers for Democracy will organise a public meeting to discuss the recent attacks on the independence of the Judiciary tomorrow from 3:30 p.m. onwards at New Town Hall Colombo. This meeting is of significant importance for the lawyers, Judiciary, media and ultimately the public.
This is also intended to provide a forum for participants to discuss and learn about the present threats and attacks on the Judiciary, undermining the Rule of Law in Sri Lanka. The panel of speakers will include Ven. Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero, Lal Wijenayaka, Nimalka Fernando, Nirmal Ranjith Devesiri, Chandrapala Kumarage, K.S. Ratnavale, J.C. Weliamuna, Gunarathne Wanninayaka, Joseph Stalin, and K.W. Janaranjana.
