Lions Clubs International President visits Sri Lanka

International President of Lions Clubs International 2014/2015 Lion Joe Priston visited Sri Lanka recently. Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service club organisation. In order to commemorate the International President’s visit, Lions of Sri Lanka from every region of all the districts, conducted community service projects. These projects covered humanitarian projects such as wheelchair and medical equipment donations, vision care, sight testing, distribution of spectacles free to the needy, diabetic screenings and many more projects. The Lions Clubs of Sri Lanka performed service projects to the value of over Rs.50 million to mark the International President’s visit. On 20 September, International President Lion Joe Priston participated in one such project, conducted at the Air Force grounds. He was accompanied by past Lions Club International President Lion Mahendra Amarasuriya PMJF. Lion Yasas Ariyarathna, President of the Lions Club of Welisara, pinned the Sri Lankan badge on IP Lion.
