LLRC meets detainees including former LTTE cadres at Boosa camp

The Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission met detainees including former LTTE cadres, yesterday at the Boosa Detention Camp.  

Media Consultant of the Commission Lakshman Wickremasinghe reporting to www.news.lk said that the LLRC had discussions with 20 LTTE cadres with whose parents the LLRC had discussions earlier when it met in the North and East.

He further informed that in the year 2011  the LLRC is expected to meet in the districts of Puttalam, Mannar, Ampara, Pothuvil, Anuradhapura and Kebithigollewa, in order to  make available an opportunity for more members of general public to testify before it.



Accordingly LLRC will meet on 7 January in Puttalam, 8 & 9 in Mannar, 22, 23 & 24 in Ampara and Pothuvil, and 27, 28 & 29 in Anuradhapura and Kebithigollewa.  The LLRC also expects to obtain statements from people in the border villages of Kebithigollewa, added Wickremasinghe.

LLRC initially commenced from Vavuniya to gather evidence from the public on 14 August 2010.
