LTTE who deprived Tamils’ rights now goes to Geneva ostensibly for same – Basil

Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa on Sunday said that the LTTE, who deprived the people of the east of their rights and lives are now going to Geneva under the guise of the same right.



Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa speaking as the chief guest on the occasion of the first Delegates Convention of the (Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal) TMVP held in Batticaloa Sivananda College ground on Sunday (18)

The Leader of the TMVP and Chief Minister of Eastern Province S. Chandrakanthan presided over the convention where over ten thousand members of the party participated.

The Minister further speaking said that over 2000 persons of TMVP and the people of the east who came forward to speak for the rights of the eastern people were annihilated by the LTTE when the region was under the reign of LTTE terror

The Minister said that it was happy to note that the Eastern Province has seen tremendous development since the TMVP came into mainstream of politics denouncing the LTTE terrorism. But on the contrary, the Minister said that the leaders of TNA who were under the protection of the security forces have now gone to Geneva to work against the country and people.

 “Today’s convention of TMVP is a symbol of the freedom of the people of the east,” said the Minister promising further assistance from the President and the Government for further development of the Eastern Province.

Minister of Provincial Council and Local Government A.L.M Athaulla, Coconut Development Minister Jagath Pushpakumara, Deputy Minister M.L.A.M. Hisbullah and Parliamentarian Faizal Cassim and Sriyani Wijewickrema were also present on the occasion
