The District and Magistrate Court judges yesterday urged all parties to respect the Supreme Court determination to avoid a constitutional crisis.

The Judicial Service Association of Sri Lanka (JSA) comprising of District and Magistrate Court judges, in a statement said the Supreme Court of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, exercising exclusive jurisdiction to interpret the constitution vested under the article 125 of the constitution held that the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) procedure which found the Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake guilty was unconstitutional.

The JSA also urged the Parliament to enact necessary legislation as recommended by the Supreme Court to probe alleged misbehaviour of apex court judges.

The JSC further said it is concerned about the media campaign aimed at vilifying the judges who discharge their duties according to law and their conscience.
