Counsel Asela Rekawa appearing for former Minister Mervyn Silva’s son Malaka yesterday requested Colombo Additional Magistrate Aruni Attygalle to relax the ban preventing Malaka from visiting nightclubs. The ban was imposed by Magistrate A.M. Sahabdeen while releasing Malaka on bail in the case connected to the assault on a British national. Counsel said his client had adhered to the restrictions imposed on him by the Court and had cooperated with the Court and the prosecution and as such pleaded that the ban imposed be lifted. The Magistrate ordered Malaka to make the request by way of an affidavit affirming the facts before the Court could consider his request.
