Maldives new President Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka this week on a two-day official visit.
Maldives’ government spokesman Masood Imad has told Xinhua news agency that President Waheed will visit Sri Lanka from 23 to 24 August.
During his visit President Waheed is expected to hold bilateral discussions with his Sri Lankan counterpart President Mahinda Rajapaksa and other senior Government ministers and officials. He is also scheduled to sign two bilateral agreements with Sri Lanka.
During his visit, the Minister signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Kotelawala Defence University, to facilitate cooperation on training and education, and for Maldivian National Defence Force (MNDF) personnel to obtain training and higher education.
