Xinhua: Sri Lankan Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella Tuesday met with Ju Mengjun, Director of the Xinhua News Agency Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau on Tuesday, both sides expressed the hope to further enhance bilateral cooperation in all areas.
During the meeting, Ju said Xinhua is glad to seek closer relations with Sri Lankan media and relevant departments in order to promote the long-term friendship between China and Sri Lanka.
He said Xinhua as China’s state media and one of world’s largest news agencies will do its part to let the people around the world including Chinese know more about Sri Lanka especially its tourism resources. Ju also thanked Rambukwella for the support of his ministry given to the Xinhua Colombo Bureau which started news reporting in 1958.
For his part, Rambukwella said he is impressed with the economic growth of China and appreciates the economic and political support that China has given to Sri Lanka. He said his ministry is happy to work together with the Xinhua News Agency to encourage the exchanges and strengthen the ties between the two countries.
Ju is scheduled to meet Sri Lankan Prime Minister D.M Jayaratne on Wednesday and attend the photo exhibition for Xinhua’s 80th founding anniversary in Colombo.
