UPFA Colombo Municipal Council Mayoral Candidate Milinda Moragoda made a visit to ‘World Market’ Pettah to meet with the small and medium business holders to discuss his ideas and policies as outlined in ‘Making Colombo City a Centre of Excellence’.
Among the issues discussed were the status of the common facility and the future development of the city. During the discussion Moragoda stated: “There is a golden opportunity before us at the end of the over three-decade-long war, to rebuild the most affected city after the north and east.” In the context of the current campaign frenzy, Moragoda, who is standing for re-election in the Colombo City as a candidate on the UPFA list, has been carrying out an extravagance-free campaign, which places the focus on substance and respect of the citizens. As part of this campaign, he is meeting small groups of citizens, and holding discussions which focus on the issues important to the public, rather than large campaign rallies. Candidate Manjula Cooray and members of the ‘World Market’ in the Olcott Mawatha were also present at the event.
