Minor parties to submit proposals on new electoral system to EC

A series of proposals regarding the 20th Amendment which includes amendments to the electoral system are to be handed over to the Elections Commissioner.
SLMC National Organiser Shafeek Rajabdeen stated that SLMC is leading this task and they would speak in detail to other minor parties regarding the proposed electoral reforms.
The National Organiser of the SLMC further stated that they reached a final agreement regarding the series of proposals following the SLMC Supreme Council meeting convened yesterday.
Meanwhile, several minor parties are to hold talks this evening regarding the proposed amendments to the electoral system.
Leader of the Nawa Sama Samaja Party Wickramabahu Karunaratne said that his stance was not to change the proportional representation system but to change only the preferential voting system.
