Modi pays respect to Dr. Ambedkar

01India’s Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi visited Deekshabhoomi on the occasion of the 126th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Dr. Ambedkar, a jurist, economist, politician and social reformer is also known as the architect of the Indian constitution. He and many of his followers had adopted Buddhism in 1956 at Deekshabhoomi, near the city of Nagpur in the state of Maharashtra.  

In a separate ceremony, to commemorate the same event at the Parliament of India in New Delhi, Modi sought blessings from Buddhist monks and gave gifts. 03
