TNN: If the BJP comes back for a third term in Madhya Pradesh, the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government will construct a temple for goddess Sita in Sri Lanka. The state BJP gathered for a three-day conclave in Gwalior to plan and strategise its election campaign and management in the next five months.

Speaking to a large gathering of the party’s grassroots level conveners and polling booth managers on Saturday, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan unveiled his developmental blueprint for the next five years.

While Chouhan spoke elaborately on his plans for a green Madhya Pradesh and training 25,000,000 youth as skilled professionals, he also mentioned the construction of a temple for goddess Sita through the Dayanand trust, in collaboration with the Sri Lankan Government. Chouhan had proposed the project in September 2012 when Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited Sanchi to inaugurate a University of Buddhist and Indic Studies.

It was proposed to construct the temple at Divurumpola, which the Sri Lankan Government claims to be the site where Sita underwent the ‘agnipariksha’ (fire test) to prove her purity. MP goes to the polls in November along with Rajasthan, Delhi and Chhattisgarh.
