Muslim Study Circle 6th Annual Exhibition and Award Ceremony

The Muslim Study Circle 6th Annual Exhibition and Award Ceremony was held in D.R. Wijeyawardena Mawatha, Colombo at the Study Circle Auditorium under the patronage of Chairperson Ameena Faiz Musthapha. 175 girls pass out of 10 different vocational technical training courses. The training given at this centre will enable them to be employed and hence bring in an additional income and contribute to the family expenses. Musthapha said that in six years, skills training such as Computer, Dress Making, Embroidery, Cookery, Cake Icing, Paper Quelling, Beauty Culture, Spoken English and Thajweed Quran Class have been successful. 70% of the Muslims in Sri Lanka are below the poverty line. The Vocational Training Centre has been successful in assisting several poor families by making at least one member a bread winner. Their vision is to take vocational training to rural areas where there is extreme poverty. Muslim Study Circle already opened centres in Kahatoviata, Warakapola, Pandura, Galle and Weligama. These centres are functionin g extremely well and approximately 1,500 girls qualified during the course of last year. The centre is accredited to the Tertiary Vocational Education Commission and hence the certificates they receive today will be of great value if they seek employment.
