Nalanda Ranaviru Upahara 2013 today

The 12th consecutive Nalanda Ranaviru Upahara organised by the Nalanda Junior Old Boys Association will be held today (2 August) from 8:30 a.m. at the College premises. The event commemorates the sacrifices of Nalandians and Sri Lankan forces for the unity and well being of the nation. It will pay tribute, invoke merit and blessings to the fallen heroes as well as comforting the kith and kin of ranaviru families. Nalanda JOBA President Dr. Thilak Amarasinghe said this year a special program is planned to help a ward at the National Cancer Hospital, Maharagama. At today’s event, floral tributes will be paid at the Nalanda College war memorial commemorating 41 old Nalandians who laid down their lives. Old Nalandians of all the armed forces who are currently in service as well those who have retired will participate at the event.
