Navarathri in Parliament today

The annual Navarathri festival of the Parliament will be celebrated today (Thursday) at the Parliament Complex from 10 a.m. under the patronage of the Ministry of Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs and the Department of Hindu Religious and Cultural Affairs. The Chief Guest of the Navratri will be Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa. Navarathri, literally interpreted as ‘nine nights,’ is the most celebrated Hindu festival devoted to Goddess Durga, symbolising purity and power or ‘shakti’.
