Nepal FM in town tomorrow to hand over invitation for SAARC summit in Kathmandu

Nepal’s Foreign Affairs Minister Mahendra Bahadur Pandey left today for Sri Lanka and the Maldives to hand over the invitations for their participation in the 18th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit to be held in Kathmandu on November 26 and 27.
Minister Pandey will hand over Nepal’s Prime Minister Sushil Koirala’s invitation for the SAARC Summit to the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Thursday, September 18.
The Nepalese Government has assigned Foreign Minister Pandey to invite the heads of state and government of SAARC member countries Maldives, Sri Lanka, India, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Minister Pandey was visiting the SAARC countries in keeping with the SAARC tradition of the Summit of host officially handing over the invitation to the head of state or government of the member countries, the Nepalese Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The Minister will also meet with his Sri Lankan counterpart and exchange views on ongoing preparations for the Summit and matters of bilateral interests and concerns.
