Common opposition candidate Maithripala Sirisena says his election manifesto will not include proposals for a political solution for the Tamils. Speaking to media heads yesterday, Sirisena said that his main focus is the 100-day plan which will look at abolishing the executive presidency and making urgent constitutional changes. He said that once his 100-day plan is implemented, a Parliament election will be held and the new Government will then need to look at the Tamil issue. Sirisena also said that the joint opposition has had talks with the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) but will not sign an agreement with them.He said that as part of his election campaign he will be visiting the north to hold election rallies.
