UNP MP Sajith Premadasa, who was issued a special invitation to attend a UNP Leadership Council meet yesterday, failed to show up, party sources said.
Premadasa was specially invited by Leadership Council Chairman Karu Jayasuriya to attend yesterdays meeting at Sirikotha.
During the meeting last evening, several attempts were made to contact Premadasa on the telephone and text messages were also sent to the MP urging him to attend, Council sources told Daily FT.
Premadasa was appointed to the nine-member Council by the UNP Working Committee, but the MP has refused to accept the position and be a part of the new leadership reforms.
Premadasa will be invited to attend the Leadership Council meeting that will be held today again, the sources confirmed. (DB)
