The second unit of the Lakvijaya Coal Power Plant has not broken down says the China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC).
Irrespective of media reports that this was another in a series of mishaps at the Norochcholai coal fire power plant, the CMEC categorically states that this was a scheduled shut down. During the scheduled shut down there was some servicing done to the boiler, which was completed within half a day.
CMEC also says that a few weeks ago, the CEB and CMEC both agreed to shut down the power plant after a Reliable Test Run (RTR). The power plant is now running at full capacity.
