Northern journalists on sightseeing tour of South welcomed in Matara

54 journalists being taken on a sightseeing seeing tour of the South by the Ministry of Mass Media spent an hour in Matara on Friday. The journalists in Matara together with the Matara Municipal Council had arranged a short ceremony to welcome the Northern journalists at the Matara Municipal Council premises.

Earlier the northern journalists met President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Media Minister Gayantha Karunathilake at the Parliament premises. They had also been shown around the President’s house and visited the Colombo Museum. They stopped over at Galle and Matara on their way to Katharagama on Friday. In Galle they had visited the Galle Harbour before proceeding to the Ranminithenna Cinema Village where they spent the night. They attended the 6 a.m. pooja at Katharagama before returning to the north.
