Norway welcomes end to emergency

Norway said yesterday it welcomes President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s announcement in Parliament 25 August that the country’s Emergency Regulations will not be extended. 

“The announcement that the Emergency Regulations will be brought to an end is positive and important in Sri Lanka’s reconciliation and normalisation process, after years of war” Norwegian Ambassador Hilde Haraldstad said in a statement.
