One suspect arrested in Mulleriyawa shootout

Police arrested a man in connection with the shootout at Mulleriyawa on Saturday evening (8) which killed four individuals, including former UPFA Parliamentarian Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra, Police said.

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has recorded 37 statements in regard to the incident while several weapons were also taken into custody.

Accordingly, 12 pistols, two revolvers and two T56 riffles were taken into custody, Police added.

The CID is continuing further investigations into the shootout.
