Colombo: The United National Party (UNP) says people living in Colombo would have to move out once the Government implements its projects in the city.

UNP Western Provincial Councillor Mujibur Rahaman has noted that the government was planning to change the Colombo City in a manner that would eventually compel the people to leave the city.

He said the Government was trying to relocate important government and other establishments away from Colombo.

Rahaman has recalled that the government shifted the main fish market to Peliyagoda in the outskirts of Colombo, and the move resulted in loss of employment to Colombo residents.

He added that people living in Colombo would have to go out of the city to attend to their work and Colombo would no longer be the hub that it is.

The Provincial Councillor said the government is engaged in a conspiracy to turn the city into a deserted ground.
