Opposition to discuss next budget

A separate parliamentary group comprised of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MPs will meet on a regularly to debate the next budget.

The group was formed last week by UPFA MPs, who are recognised as supporters of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, and its first meeting was concluded with the attendance of 40 MPs.

The Mahajana Eksath Premuna (MEP) leader MP Dinesh Gunawardena has been appointed as leader, through the recommendation of MP Kumara Welgama. MP Prasanna Ranatunga has been appointed Convener and MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage appointed the Treasurer.
