Over 11,000 police and Special Task Force (STF) personnel are to be deployed to the Uva province for the elections to be held on Saturday, police headquarters said.
Police security is being beefed up in Uva following concerns raised by election monitoring groups that several incidents of election law violations and election violence had taken place in Monaragala and Badulla ahead of election day.
The Uva provincial council elections will be held on Saturday and campaigning for the polls ends today. (Colombo Gazette)
