Pakistan and Sri Lanka keen to enhance bilateral cooperation

The High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka Major Gen (Retd) Qasim Qureshi called on Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera, at the Ministry of External Affairs. They discussed a range of issues encompassing the entire spectrum of bilateral relations, including ways and means of sustaining and further building momentum in bilateral cooperation. The High Commissioner also delivered the message of felicitations from Advisor to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on National Security and Foreign Policy Sartaj Aziz to the Foreign Minister on his assumption of office. Minister Samaraweera expressed his deep appreciation for Pakistan’s continued and steadfast support to Sri Lanka and assured that Sri Lanka is committed to enhancing its mutually beneficial relationship with Pakistan. Qureshi and Samaraweera reaffirmed their shared commitment to expanding and deepening bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation. It was agreed that the forthcoming visit of the Sri Lankan President to Pakistan would go a long way in taking the relationship to a higher level. The High Commissioner briefed the Minister on the efforts of Pakistan to promote regional security and underlined that Pakistan was committed to robust regional cooperation in South Asia.
