Pakistani Federal Minister lauds SL’s economic development

Visiting Pakistan Government Federal Minister for planning and development Ahsan Iqbal said he was “highly impressed” with the development programs of the Sri Lankan Government. “We have similar cultures, a common shared history and substantial developmental experience says Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal. Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Planning and Development Iqbal had said this when he made a courtesy call on Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa at the Ministry office on Tuesday 3 September. At the meeting with Minister Rajapaksa the Pakistani Federal Minister stressed the need for the two countries strengthen their relationship and joint ventures between the two countries. In response Minister Basil Rajapaksa expressed his gratitude to Pakistan for extending much assistance to Sri Lanka during the post-war years. Discussions were also held on the garment, handloom, textile and the tourism industries in the country. The Pakistani delegation also included Deputy High Commissioner in Colombo Amna Baloch and the High Commission’s Head of Chancery Bilal Akram Shah.
