The Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) yesterday said that it had urged the Government to release the report of the Maxwell Paranagama Presidential Commission to the United Nations Human Right Council’s 30th session.

The PHU Leader MP Udaya Gammanpila stressed that the Paranagama report would be a perfect response to the UNHRC over allegations of human rights violations and war crimes.

“Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa established the commission in order to investigate complaints of missing persons. The completed report has already been handed over to President Maithripala Sirisena. We urge the Government to make the report public as soon as possible,” he asserted.

Gammanpila further stated: “The Government should not betray the country by complying with UN suggestions while there is clear evidence to prove that we are blameless.”
