Parliament sets up information desk to guide novice MPs after election

Parliament is setting up an information desk to facilitate arrangements for the first meeting of the first session of the new Parliament for the convenience of the new lawmakers.

The information desk at the Parliamentary Complex will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., from 23 to 25 August. All Members of Parliament are requested to make use of the opportunity without fail as the arrangements have been 02-3made to provide vital information and various documents regarding Parliament procedures, etc. at the Information Desk, a media release issued by Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dassanayake said.

The MPs are informed to bring their National Identity Card or any other valid document to prove their identity along with them to facilitate their entry to Parliament.

They are also requested to complete and bring the specimen form available at the www.parliament.lk website if possible, in order to further simplify the task. Arrangements have been made to obtain a photograph of each MP for the official identity card and hence, they are requested to be present for the same.

All Members of Parliament and their Secretaries are requested to contact the Assistant Director (Administration) office of Parliament for further information on telephone numbers 011-2777549, 011-2777273, 011-2777367 and 011-2777304 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on 21 August.
