The Parliament is to get a new look whilst a housing complex for MPs is to be built, the Government said yesterday. The Cabinet has approved the appointment of a Technical Evaluation Committee and a Cabinet Appointed Negotiating Committee, to study proposals and negotiate costs to refurbish the Parliament building and construct a new housing complex at Thalapathpitiya with required amenities for Members of Parliament.
Approval was also given to obtain the services of M/s. Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Co. Ltd. which constructed the Parliament building in 1982, as recommended by the Staff Advisory Committee of Parliament.
