Government has granted permission to the sidewalk traders of Colombo's market area Fort and Pettah to do business during the festive season.
The Government removed the traders from selling their merchandise on the sidewalks of the capital this year and relocated them in regular places to prevent the disturbance of pedestrians and vehicle traffic.
However, the traders have been permitted from today till December 24th to do business on selected roads. The traders are allowed on Main Street up to Gas Works Junction, Malwatta Road, 1st and 2nd Cross Streets.
The police granted permission on a request made by the Confederation of Self Employed. (Colombo Page)
