The government has decided to open pay wards in state hospitals for public servants. As the first step, nine floors of the 25-story building of the Colombo National Hospital now being constructed will be allocated for pay wards for public servants.

Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation provides financial assistance for the construction of the pay wards.

The hospital bills of the public servants are paid by a state insurance policy which covers almost all public servants.

The Ministry of Health expects to introduce an easy payment scheme as well for public servants.
