Pension procedure should be re-examined - President

President Maithripala Sirisena says the pension procedure of workers should be re-examined.

 “We should pay our attention revise the pension procedure of the officers of tri forces,” he added.

The President made these remarks at the farewell function of the retirement of Mr. Asela Iddawela; President of Holcim Lanka Ltd., held on Saturday (July 17) at BMICH.

 “Though Government servants retire at the age of sixty, there are various ways for private sector workers. When the tri forces officers are due to be retired after twenty years of service, their age is forty of nearly forty,” the President pointed out.

It is a loss for them as well as for the country when they retire at this stage when they become a human resource, equipped with skills, capabilities, higher knowledge and comprehensive experience, he said.

The book; “Asela Divi Seriyen Jana Seriyata”, written on Mr. Asela Iddawela’s life story was presented to the President at this occasion.

Ven. Maduluvave Sobitha Thero, Ven. Prof. Pathegama Gnanissara thero, Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda Thero, Ministers Patali Champika Ranawaka, Harsha de Silva and Secretary to the President P. B. Abeykoon were among those participated at this event.
