People’s Bank Chairman Karunajeewa passes away

People’s Bank and People’s Leasing and Finance Chairman, W. Karunajeewa, passed away yesterday. Karunajeewa, who was 66 years of age at the time of death, assumed duties as the Chairman of People’s Bank in 2007.

leading state banks in the local economy.  His outstanding service and contribution rendered towards developing People’s Bank, its subsidiaries and the local banking fraternity was recognised by the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka, which awarded him with an Honorary Fellowship in 2010.  Karunajeewa was the dear husband of Kusum Karunajeewa and beloved father of Indika Karunajeewa and Dilini Karunaajeewa. Cortege will leave the residence U/2/1, Anderson flats, Colombo 5, on 31 January 2013, at 3:00 p.m. for cremation at Borella Cemetery.
