Colombo: The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has selected 3,000 vehicle owners initially to be paid compensation for the damage caused by the substandard fuel distributed by the Corporation.
The tri-member committee appointed to look into the issue met yesterday and selected the claimants, and the officials have now commenced sending letters to those who have claimed compensation.
The selected claimants had submitted documents to prove the damage, CPC says.
The committee decided to grant 14 more days to people who had not submitted necessary documents yet to apply for compensation.
The committee has recommended that compensation be paid to the vehicle owners whose vehicles were damaged due to the substandard fuel. (Colombo Page)
