The doctors aesthetic society of the Mahiyangana hospital has arranged a photography exhibition ‘Mahi Roo’ on 18 and 19 December. The exhibition is open to any past or present employee of the hospital. There will be around 150 photographs in the exhibition which includes photographs on nature, wildlife, etc. “This is not a photograpy competition, it is an event to enhance the aesthetic eye of the hospital staff. There are many who take photographs but rarely does one get the chance to exhibit his or her work specially at a place like Mahiyangana. Our event is to encourage the hospital staff to display their work and to look at the world through their aesthetic eye,” said BH Mahiyangana Consultant Psychiatrist Dr. Arjuna Ellepola. “This will be open to the public of Mahiyangana and it will be a new experience to them all,” added BH Mahiyangana Consultant Surgeon Dr. Ajith Arthanayake. According to the organising committee unlike other events this event has no sponsors and it is a genuine effort of the doctors’ aesthetic society. The best five photographs among the entries will be selected by a special panel and will be presented with tokens of appreciation. Mahiyangana hospital is an A grade base hospital which serves the public of Uva province and Central province. The hospital runs understaffed and according to the Medical Supirintenent Dr. A.M.S. Bandara there is a shortage of around 40 supportive staff, 50 nurses and 20 doctors at present but the employees who work there seem to enjoy the Mahiyangana experience though it is 200 km away from the city. The organising committee invites you to be present at the event on 18 and 19 December at Mahiyangana Hospital premises.
