Patriotic National Movement (PNM) has in writing requested President Mahinda Rajapaksa to reimpose the price control on rice.

Head of the PNM Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekara has noted that the government decision to lift the price control on rice has benefited only the rice mill owners and wholesale dealers.

He has stated that the price control was removed at a time when there was no pressure on the part of the consumer to do so.

Dr. Amarasekara has noted that the removal of price control on rice would result in the gradual increase in rice prices. (www.colombopage.com)
