Police chief, Inspector General of Police (IGP) N. K. Ilangakoon assured to catch the culprits of the attack on the JVP rally in Katuwana on Friday.
Addressing a media briefing at the Media Center for National Security (MCNS), the IGP has said that one of the suspects has already been named and further investigations based on his revelations are continuing.
The Police Chief has told the media that several police teams have been assigned to conduct investigations and the local police have already recorded statements from about 20 people. The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) has also joined the investigations and recorded statements of another 23 people, the IGP has said.
The JVP accusing the government of complicity in the attack has said that underworld gangs maintained and manipulated by the government are constantly terrorizing and intimidating people in Beliatta, Walasmulla, Katuwana areas.
