Police seize a 274 kg cocaine consignment worth over Rs. 4 b

Sri Lanka Police have seized the largest ever consignment of cocaine concealed in two containers at a private container yard in Peliyagoda.

The officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau acting on a tip-off seized the consignment of 274 kilograms of Cocaine concealed in two containers of sugar.

The police estimate the total value of the seized drugs to be over Rs. 4 billion.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the containers were shipped from Brazil.

The Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundera visited the Police Narcotic Bureau to observe the seizure and commended the officers involved in the operation.
