The Slave Island police had commenced an investigation into a complaint made by an official attached to the Ministry of Plantation Industries that 35 computer toner cartridges had been stolen from a warehouse at the Ministry of Plantation Industries in Colombo 2.
The complainant, an accountant attached to the Ministry alleged that the theft had been committed by someone else on or around 25 June to 6 July this year, even though the relevant location was provided with a 24 hour security service. According to the complaint about 35 computer toner cartridges valued at Rs. 215,000 had been stolen after causing damages to the Ministry warehouse building located at Vuaxhall Street, Colombo 2. The Slave Island police informed Colombo Fort Magistrate Kanishka Wijeratne that they were conducting further investigations into the incident.
