Police to strictly implement lane law regulation on more roads

The lane law regulation which is currently being enforced on few roads will be strictly implemented on several roads from Monday, the Police said.

The Police Motor Traffic Division said the lane law implemented to force motorists to adhere to the lanes will be implemented in three selected routes in Colombo. The lane law will be enforced on Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Duplication Road and High Level Road from Nugegoda to Colombo.

Additional police officers will be deployed to ensure the drivers are observing the regulations. The traffic lane law gives police the authority to arrest drivers who change their lanes recklessly causing traffic congestion.

The police strictly implemented the lane regulations on the route from Jayanthipura to Colombo on the Sri Jayewardenepura road from November 26.
