Policeman arrested over Sirikotha shooting remanded

A policeman who was arrested for opening fire at the UNP headquarters yesterday was produced in court today and remanded until 15 May.

The policeman was arrested after he opened fire at the Sirikotha UNP headquarters late last evening. Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Harsha de Silva said that the bullets from an automatic weapon pierced the glass of the UNP elephant logo and entered the Panditaratne room and hit the adjacent wall. No one was injured in the shooting. (Colombo Gazette)
