Postal services extends delivery of ballot papers till 4 Jan. due to rainy weather

The Postal Service has extended the delivery of ballot papers until 4 January due to the prevailing adverse weather in the country, the Post Master General Rohana Abeyratna said. The Postal Department is currently in the process of delivering the ballot papers to voters and it was scheduled to be finished by 31 December. However, due to the rains and floods, on the instructions of the Election Commissioner, the Postal Department will deliver the ballot papers until 4 January, the official said. The department plans a special delivery on Sunday, 4 January to complete the distribution process. So far about 60% of the ballots have been delivered, the Post Master General said, adding that he is confident of completing the distribution on Sunday.
