President appoints another four deputy ministers

President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday appointed four Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) parliamentarians as Deputy Ministers.

MPs Sanath Jayasuriya, Wijaya Dahanayake, Eric Weerawardena and Thilanga Sumathipala took oaths as Deputy Ministers at an event held at the Presidential Secretariat, the President’s Media Unit said.

Wijaya Dahanayake has been appointed as the Deputy Minister of Public Order and Christian Affairs while Sanath Jayasuriya has been appointed as the Deputy Minister of Provincial Council and Provincial Development.

Thilanga Sumathipala has been sworn in as the Deputy Minister of Skills Development and Vocational Training while Eric Weerawardena is the Deputy Minister of Ports and Urban Development.

The appointments come just weeks after five SLFP MPs were given ministerial portfolios.
