President congratulates Xi Jinping

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has extended his congratulations to Xi Jinping, the newly elected General Secretary of the Communist Party of China. Conveying his congratulations, Rajapaksa said that he believes Xi Jinping’s experience in both local and international politics will enable him to guide China in the next decade.

Rajapaksa further noted that he hopes, under the guidance of the new leader of China, the ties between China and Sri Lanka will strengthen further.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of China

Your Excellency,

It is with immense pleasure that I extend my warmest congratulations and best wishes to you on your election as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China at the Party’s 18th National Congress.

Your election to the highest office of the Communist Party of China is a manifestation of the confidence that the members of the Communist Party have placed in you.

I am certain that your vast experience in the realm of politics and affairs of the state, which is expanding from your associations at provincial level to those at the national level, will provide the necessary guidance to steer China forward.

I also believe that China-Sri Lanka relations that are in an excellent status at present will reach unprecedented spheres under your able leadership. I fervently hope that China will continue to be a true friend of Sri Lanka during your tenure of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China as has been in the past.

As the Leader of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party that was founded on the value of social justice like the Communist Party of China, I look forward to working with you closely for the cooperation between our two parties.

I take this opportunity to wish you good health and every success in the high office to which you have just been elected. Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.
